MIPT and the government of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug are starting to create the International Arctic Station "Snowflake"

The International station will become one of the largest research sites where scientists from all over the world will be able to experiment, test, and implement breakthrough technologies in various fields: from life support systems to telemedicine, bio-and agricultural technologies. Yamal scientists at the site of the scientific center will be able to conduct research on climate change and the cryolithozone, predict its state, work on new methods and technologies of "smart" geotechnical and geocryological monitoring, test drugs to ensure the geoecological safety of ecosystems and construction sites, engage in hydrological research. The project will make it possible to achieve the effective development of Yamal science and ensure the "smart specialization" of the region.
MIPT participates in all stages of the creation and operation of the "Snowflake" from the development of the project to conducting research at the station after it is put into operation. The construction of a landfill for conducting test engineering works will be deployed on the Institute's campus. After testing, the equipment will be transported to Yamal and used as part of a regular station.
